Can acupuncture boost IVF success rates? |

Over the last couple of years I have treated several women undergoing IVF treatment. Prior to that I have given treatments to many women with infertility problems with acupuncture being the primary treatment modality. My feeling is that acupuncture can be very useful in this area, and it is good to see a growing body of research supporting this view.
Earlier this year, the British Medical Journal published a large-scale review of 7 studies, looking at a total of 1,366 childless women having fertility treatment.
Participants had either genuine or sham acupuncture, given just before or after an embryo was implanted; or no treatment at all.
There was a 65% rise in an individual's chance of becoming pregnant with real acupuncture. Women of various ages with different causes of infertility were included in the study carried out by U.S. and Dutch scientists.
