Stroke
The effects of a stroke can be devastating. In China, acupuncture is a standard treatment in rehabilitation following a stroke. Whilst the research evidence is somewhat mixed, I think that is because it is essential to begin treatment early. Too often in the West treatment with acupuncture starts one or two years after the stroke, which in reality is far too late. Treatment needs to commence within around 40 days of the incidence of the stroke and this is far more likely to lead to real benefit.
